This month, as we talk about you and your father, I want to recommend the book Blind to Betrayal. It will help you answer some of the hardest questions, like: why did I keep trusting, defending, or staying close to someone who hurt me?

When the person who hurt you is also someone you depend on or love, your mind has good reasons to look away from what happened. Freyd and Birrell call this betrayal blindness. This book gives you the language for betrayal from a father and the permission to stop gaslighting yourself.
