This checklist will help you evaluate your present relationship with your parent. Mark each statement that resonates with your experience.
Many adults will choose to have a relationship with their parent if their behavior allows it in the present. I have seen many parents change their behavior and find a way to move forward and have some type of relationship with their adult child. Sometimes, that relationship is quite limited or distanced, but they avoid the end result of complete estrangement.
If you are considering maintaining a relationship with your parent or you are on the fence about whether estrangement is right for you, evaluating their present behavior and the quality of your relationship today is an important exercise.
